I just love the clothes available at Ottobre Design. They’re a Finnish clothing pattern company. Their magazine costs around 43 euros a year, and includes 4 children’s issues and 2 women’s issues. Each magazine contains dozens of patterns, with accompanying glossy photos of samples. European design and sizing, stylish clothing appropriate for children (not mini teenagers), and tons of patterns for your money–sounds good to me!
I’m going to start saving up! I’d love a subscription. Check out their website to see their past issues and get a feel for their style. Oh, they also have a free fitted cloth diaper pattern, available in .pdf format here. I haven’t tried it, but I’ve heard it’s a good one. The small size runs big for newborns, but that’s to be expected in a newborn – six month size.
and real sizes – not skinny-mini models! i also love the women’s clothing patterns. i gotta break out my sewing machines and figure out how to work it into my daily or weekly schedule.

The women’s stuff looks great, I agree! I think the most recent mag even had a maternity outfit in it.
I’m hoping to sew some clothes for the baby from all of the bags of old t-shirts and pants I’ve got around here. I’ll have to work the time in somewhere…
I just bought my first Ottobre magazine used from a mama on SewingMamas.com! It’s the Winter 2006 issue, which has a lot of baby stuff:

I’m trying to find a pattern I saw advertised today, Tuesday, Nov. 18, on ebay. It showed a black and white photo of young/little girl wearing a dress. The text or heading said something like this, “European Pattern; Wrap Around Children’s Dress”. It was adoreable and looked extremely easy (and cost effective!!) to make. I can’t believe I went to the next page, thinking it would still be there when I back-spaced a moment or two later!!
If anyone knows what I’m referring to, please drop me a line: zatorskijoan@yahoo.com I sew infant layettes and toddler clothes as well as maternity tops that I donate to an out-reach program in Tucson, Arizona. We service families in-need on the Arizona-Mexican border.
Many thanks!!!
