Good article over at Organic Valley about traveling fast food free. We’ve been doing a lot of road trips for house hunting purposes, and the most satisfying have been the trips where I planned ahead and brought food.

No one ever told me that having my furnace replaced would mean that the whole house would smell like a toxic cesspool. PVC glue, anyone?
Not only is it horrible for us all to be breathing (I couldn’t even put Asher down for a nap in our room–big vent–without fearing he’d wake up with cancer), [...]

I haven’t been posting much due to general craziness – we move out of this house in less than three weeks, and we are still in negotiations for the house on the other end. There has been some question as to whether or not to proceed with the “new” house, as it was going to [...]
Lentil Rice Casserole (Great for Tacos & Burritos!)
Posted in food, frugal living on June 20, 2008 | 4 Comments »
This recipe is healthy, easy, quick, and super economical. Based on Sue Gregg’s Taste & Tell Recipes, a free whole foods recipe sampler (available online here), this is one of my favorite Sunday lunch dishes. It cooks while we’re at church, so I have very little prep when I get home. Also great for those [...]

Anyway. There’s approximately 1000 [...]

Our offer was set to expire yesterday at 5 p.m. Our agent called us at 5:30 and said that the seller had received another offer that day; it was for full price! But, it was contingent up on the sale of their house, which was not yet on the market. Since we had offered well [...]

Lasagna is in the oven. It is far too hot for the oven, but I couldn’t resist. Mmmm.
Speaking of too hot to cook, I want a summer kitchen. At the very least, we’ll stick our camp stove outside this summer and do hot dogs over our cast iron fire bowl thing.
Will you be camping this [...]
