Whew. I just spent almost five hours in the garden planting tomatoes. I got 25 planted, so there are 15 left. I chose which ones I want to plant and put them in their spots, bermed with soil so they don’t blow over. So I can just go out and plant tomorrow or the next [...]

I know some of you have found good videos for your kids to watch on YouTube. What are your favorites? How do you choose? My priorities are for the videos to be educational in some way, and for the content to be slower (not flashing through 2 screens a second, like movie previews).

Best words a nurse ever said to me. After far too much waiting, and then more waiting on the phone while someone tracked down the report, I was happy to learn that Asher’s CT scan came back normal. Praise God!
I didn’t realize how worried I was until I finally got the news. We’re going to [...]

Yesterday afternoon (5/25/09), Jason finished up the last row of Purple Viking potatoes. There was enough, after cutting into smaller pieces, for almost a full row. I planted the extra foot or two at the end with a couple of short rows of cilantro.
The tomatoes have all been in the cold frame since Friday (5/22), [...]

January

We are proud and excited to announce that we are expecting a baby in early January (perhaps late December)! Please pray for a healthy, full-term pregnancy. I am sometimes sick, always exhausted, and there have been a few episodes of spotting in the first weeks. We covet your prayers and believe that they are powerful [...]

Red Gold (2.5 lbs.)
Purple Viking (5 lbs.)
Green Mountain (5 lbs.)

Only when they arrived a few weeks ago, they were accompanied by a note that [...]

Asher

Asher had a head CT Friday. The radiologist was not in that day, and Monday is a holiday, so we won’t know the results until Tuesday at the earliest. This is frustrating, but nothing can be done. We even called our doctor to see if he could read the scan himself, and he wasn’t in [...]

Chicks Growing Up

The chicks are amazingly huge now.  (I totally know that pictures are due. You won’t believe the difference.) They are six weeks old and look like chickens, not chicks. Only they’re smaller than adults, obviously. We took out the cardboard and pine shavings from their coop last week, so now they’re on the 1/2″ hardware [...]

Garden Updates

Trying to keep up with garden blogging so I have a good record for next year’s reference. I’m falling behind, but here’s a quick recap:

Our first pea plants were up last Thursday, 5/7/09. Now, a week later, most of all four pea varieties are up, and a handful of fava plants.
Jason installed wood 2″ x [...]

LOST Season Finale

**SPOILERS**
Whew. Okay, I thought this was the season where they were supposed to start answering more questions than they raised? I, for one, have more questions than answers. I have such a love/hate relationship with this show. I love it, I’m addicted, and I look forward to it all week. Yet at the end of [...]
