I just have to post this picture of Ellery carving pumpkins last year:
That pretty much sums up how she felt about the whole gutting-the-pumpkin thing. She really didn’t like it. This year, however, she changed her mind. She said things like, “It’s not so bad!” and “I really like carving pumpkins! Or at least, I don’t mind it.” The girls mostly did the gutting, and Jason finished up cleaning out the insides and did the actual carving. The girls drew their designs on paper first, so he could get an idea of their vision. Asher wanted his drawn in marker, and he was very, very proud of the result. I think Elly’s pumpkin is so darling, because 1.) Jason carved an “E” for one of its ears, just like last year, and 2.) He had to carve it sideways because that’s how it wanted to lay. It made it look so funny and sweet. Thanks to our wonderful neighbor for inviting our kids to come over and pick out pumpkins. Enjoy the gallery; you can click on any photo to make it bigger.
