Well Update

We have water again, praise God! We are so thankful. The well pump died, so we had it replaced. It was the original from over 30 years ago! I am currently doing dishes by hand and machine, doing laundry, cleaning toilets, etc.
Unfortunately, our home warranty company only covers $400 for well pumps. So the [...]

This post over at In a Shoe was really inspirational for me. This family of 11 lives in less than 1200 square feet.
I love seeking out simple living, and I crave a smaller house with less stuff. Right now we live in our upstairs, with two bedrooms, a bath, and the main living areas (kitchen, [...]

House Sneak Peek

Well, here you go. The siding is just about done, just some tweaks left, and the gutters go on next week. You can’t really see them, but behind that tree is a brand new set of double doors, too. They came pre-primed a creamy yellow color, and we will paint them (probably red) once it’s [...]

We ran some technical tests (Jason squirted [...]

The kids and I moved into the house with Jason yesterday. After three weeks of camping (two sleeping on the ground!), J was ready to sleep on our natural latex mattress. After four weeks of having sole responsibility of the children and two weeks of living without my husband, I was ready to have us [...]

Isn’t she pretty? I can’t wait to fire her up this fall!
This Hampton HI300 should be able to efficiently heat most of our house for the winter.

House Pictures

I’ve just uploaded a large set of pictures to my Flickr page. There are loads of befores and durings, with comments and notes. (For Flickr newbies, you’ll need to hover your mouse over the picture to see my witty extraneous notes.)

Feel free to leave your comments there, as I check in regularly.

week three

The first week, we housesat for friends
The second week, we camped in a borrowed camper.
For week three, the kids and I are staying with my parents (an hour away, sadly) while Jason sleeps in a tent and his parents re-inhabit their camper and help with flooring installation.
It will be good when this is all over. [...]
